ABOUT the photographer
HI! I’m Rachel
I’m a lifelong Midwest gal, happily rooted in Iowa City with my husband and our two daughters. As a mom, I understand how parenthood can feel both exhausting and overwhelming — yet also tender, fleeting, and achingly beautiful.
After six years as a work-from-home mom, I felt the pull to step into my dream career. With my girls nearing school age I knew it was time to pivot from graphic design and pour my heart into photography, preserving the same kind of love and connection I treasure in my own family.
Today, I bring that perspective to every session. I see the little in-between moments, the quiet gestures, the joy and chaos, and the love that makes your story unique — and I feel so honored to capture it all.

what I believe in
001.
Raising good humans is the most important job anyone can ever have.
002.
You can never have too many books. Especially children’s books; I don’t care how old you are.
003.
Time spent outside can reset most bad days. Unless if it’s -36°F out there, then maybe not.
My STORY
I’ve been a photographer since 2009.
It started as a hobby that connected my husband and I in the early years of our relationship. When we started our family I transitioned my preference from photographing nature, to photographing my children’s dimpled smiles and sweet eyelashes.
At the time I was running a graphic design business, but knew photography was where my heart truly wanted to be. I went back to school to pursue it fully — and haven’t looked back since.
I’m passionate about genuine connections, art, and nature. These inspire how I photograph and connect with my clients, and why it’s not unusual for me to shed a few happy tears behind the camera while capturing love stories.
These are a few of my favorite things:
Iowa sunsets, Iowa City’s book culture, trips to visit my sisters in Minnesota, jasmine pearl white tea, dance parties with my kids (complete with a disco ball #obviously), interior design, landscape design and urban farms, dark chocolate peanut butter cups from Trader Joe’s (#ohmygoodness), Seinfeld on repeat.
